If you don’t want to be poppin’ aspirin for a massive headache…then buy a set of step up rings and all your filters for your lenses in 77mm thread size.
When you purchase a camera, you may find that your 18-55mm lens that comes bundled with your body has a thread size of 52mm. Let’s say you want to purchase a UV filter to protect your lens from being scratched or a circular polarizer filter to eliminate the glare off of a lake.
A month later you decide to buy a wide-angle lens with a thread size of 77mm. You now can’t use your previous filter you had purchased for your previous lens. Do yourself a favor and buy all your lens filters in 77mm sizes and get a set of step up rings!!!
Purchase a set of step up rings and save you time, money and the hassle of purchasing multiple size filters for various thread sizes on your camera. I found an inexpensive set on Amazon from Fotodiox (link – $12.95) which includes 7 metal threads that screw into each other for easy storage and also will allow you to use all your filters on your lenses.
