Tale of the Dragonfly & The Lizard

Date: June 8, 2011

Camera: Canon EOS 550D (Amazon)
Focal Length: 135mm
Shutter Speed: 1/1000 sec
Aperture: f/6.3
ISO/Film: 200

Note: Regis Matthey captured this photo in a pond called “The Grotto” in Western Australia. The Grotto is a natural swimming hole about 20 minutes outside of Wyndham, Australia. This dragonfly has got some nerve to be taunting a lizard like this. Great capture!

Tip: Regis’s shutter speed (wiki) was set to 1/1000 of a second which was enough to capture the lizard sharply, but the dragonfly moves at such high speeds and is slightly blurry. This effect is good when showing slight movement in photographs and can add interest if done intentionally.
