Camera: Canon EOS rebel T2i (Amazon)
Focal Length: 50mm
Shutter Speed: 1/1000 sec
Note: Armand Salmon captured this photo at the Mount Vernon North Metro Station in New York City, New York. On December 26th 2010, the NorthEastern United States saw a fury of snow that accumalted 10-30″, with winds as high as 80mph. Armand explains that by mid-day, most streets were empty and made for a perfect time to capture the moment. Excellent Capture!
Tip: Armand used a shutter speed (wiki) of 1/1000 of a second which allowed for him to “freeze” the snow in time and bring it into focus. He also used the rule of thirds to give interest to the train station and train approaching the camera. When shooting outside in the snow, make sure you a rag or small towel to place over your camera. You can also get a “cloak bag” that retails for $69 at PhotoJojo.com (link). This will protect your camera from the “sticky” wet snow.
