Note: Rene Visser captured this photo of a baby black-tailed godwit running across a field. The warm tones created from the sunset creates nice back-lighting to the subject and gives it a nice silhouette. Excellent capture by Rene!

Tip: When shooting into the sun for dramatic shadows, it’s good to use the ‘golden hour’ rule (wiki). The rule happens twice a day. It is the one hour after sunrise and before sunset. The shadows are longer, the light is softer and the color tones are warmer. Use a smaller aperture, or higher setting, such as f/8 to f/11 to get some sharper detail in your composition if the lighting will permit.
